This session aims to inform the participants briefly about the overall UK offer and why the United Kingdom is one of the top global inward investment locations in the worlds. The session also includes information about the Department for International Trade and the support services provided by DIT.

Mike King

Mike King is the First Secretary, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Investment Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Mike King is the First Secretary, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Investment for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Network (EECAN), based in Istanbul. His role provides resource and management oversight of 14 countries (including Turkey, Russia, Ukraine & Belarus). His role is to ensure that the trade and investment vision of Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner is delivered. His role is to help companies understand what free services his team can offer such as market analysis, funding/grants set-up, bank account opening, visas etc. Mike can also help explain the ecosystem such as why the UK is number 1 in Europe for inward foreign direct investment and why it is home to the largest venture capital market in Europe and the third biggest globally.

Mike has worked for over 7 years in Government and has previously worked for a range of international companies including Accenture and Raleigh International as well as working in Turkey, Belize, Uganda and India. Over the past 10 years, Mike has set up 2 start up companies, meaning he is happy to share his experiences of how to set up and grow companies in the UK. One company is still successfully running where he runs a company in the UK that coaches students how to gain graduate jobs after university.
